Troubleshooting Common Fixture Issues

This guide addresses the most frequently encountered Fixture issues in Clipboard Compete and provides step-by-step solutions to resolve them

Quick Diagnostic Checklist

Before diving into specific issues, run through this quick checklist:

  1. Check the Fixtures Inbox - Are there unaccepted changes?

  2. Verify Team nominations - Are the Teams properly nominated?

  3. Confirm entity status - Are Grades, Seasons and Locations active (not archived)?

  4. Review Fixture status - Is the Fixture status in Draft or Live?

  5. Check user permissions - Do you have the right access level?


Most Common Issues

1. Fixtures Not Appearing in School Systems

Symptoms:

  • Fixtures visible in Compete but not in the school's schedule

  • Staff can't see Fixture updates

  • Teams report missing matches

Likely Causes:

  • Changes haven't been accepted in the Fixtures Inbox

  • Staff users don't have proper permissions

  • Fixture is still in Draft status

Possible solutions for Schools:

Check Admin/Manager Inbox

  1. Log in as an Admin or Manager user

  2. Navigate to the Fixtures Inbox

  3. Check all tabs: New, Changed, Cancelled, Deleted

  4. Accept, Decline or Edit any pending changes

Verify User Permissions

  • Only Admin and Manager users can see the Fixtures Inbox

  • Staff users only see Fixtures AFTER Admin/Manager acceptance

  • Confirm user roles are set correctly

Possible solutions for Associations:

Check Fixture Status

  • In Compete, verify the Fixture is not in "Draft" status

  • If saved as Draft, use Manage Visibility to make the Fixture Live

2. "Fixture Out of Date" or Discrepancies

Symptoms:

  • Fixtures showing as "out of date" in the school account

  • Fixture Discrepancy in the Compete account

  • Time/date inconsistencies between systems

  • Teams are seeing different information

Likely Causes:

  • Changes made in one system are not synced to another

  • Network synchronisation delays

  • Conflicting edits from multiple sources

Possible solutions for Schools:

Check All Inbox Tabs

  1. Navigate to Fixtures Inbox

  2. Important: Check the Deleted tab

  3. Accept or acknowledge ALL changes across ALL tabs

Force Sync

  1. Make a minor edit to the Fixture (e.g., add a note)

  2. Save the change

  3. This often triggers a system sync

Clear Browser Cache

  • Clear browser cache and cookies

  • Log out and back in

  • Try accessing from a different browser

3. Intraschool Fixture Problems

Symptoms:

  • One Team in school vs school Fixture can't mark attendance

  • Fixtures appear for the home Team but not the away Team

  • Roll-marking errors for internal matches

Possible solutions for Schools:

Verify Both Teams Are Set Up

  1. Check that both Teams are properly created and nominated

  2. Confirm both Teams are in the same Competition/Grade

  3. Ensure Fixture shows both Teams correctly

Contact Support if Issues Persist

  • Intraschool Fixtures have complex linking requirements

  • Recent updates have improved this functionality

  • Support can verify proper setup

Workaround for Core Schools:

Duplicate the Fixture

  1. Locate and select the Fixture you want to duplicate from your Fixtures list

  2. Go to the three dots menu and select "Duplicate"

  3. Review the duplicated fixture details, including the title, Teams and Staff

  4. Click "Save" to finalise the duplicate

4. Results and Scoring Issues

Symptoms:

  • Scores not appearing in Ladders

  • Result discrepancies between Teams

  • Cannot enter results

Possible solutions for Schools:

Check Results Tab in Inbox

  1. Navigate to Fixtures Inbox β†’ Results tab

  2. Look for any discrepancies requiring resolution

  3. Resolve conflicting results

Verify Score Template

  1. Confirm the correct score template is being used

  2. Ensure Ladder configuration matches score format

  3. Check that all required fields are completed

Re-enter Results if Necessary

  1. Delete incorrect results (if possible)

Fixture Validation Errors

When creating or editing Fixtures, the system validates several conditions:

Common Validation Failures:

  • Teams not in correct pools

  • Venue conflicts (double-booking)

  • Time/date format issues

  • Invalid Team combinations

Solution Approach:

  1. Note the exact error message

  2. Check each component mentioned in the error

  3. Fix the underlying data issue

  4. Retry the Fixture operation

Data Integrity Issues

Signs of Data Problems:

  • Teams showing nominations but no visible Competitions

  • Fixtures referencing non-existent entities

  • Inconsistent information across different views

Immediate Actions:

  1. Don't make more changes - This can worsen the issue

  2. Document the problem - Take screenshots of error messages

  3. Contact support immediately - Data issues require professional attention

Browser and Technical Issues

Common Technical Problems:

  • Interface not loading correctly

  • Changes not saving

  • Inconsistent display of information

Quick Fixes:

  1. Hard refresh - Ctrl+F5 (Windows) or Cmd+Shift+R (Mac)
