Public Holidays

Find out how to set up public holidays in Clipboard

Adding or editing Public Holiday information requires IT Admin User access.

Adding public holidays will:

  • Trigger a clash detection warning when creating sessions on public holiday dates

  • If you have the Timesheets module: Allow Clipboard to automatically calculate the relevant pay rates of staff work on public holidays

Without Timesheet Module

To create or edit a public holiday:

  1. Click the icon and create/edit:

    1. The name of the holiday

    2. Its date (it will not repeat for following years)

To delete a public holiday:

  1. Click the Delete icon.

Note that if you later get the Timesheets module, you will need some extra configuration if you want your staff to be paid a different rate on public holidays.

With Timesheet Module

After creating a public holiday in Clipboard, and assigning it to the correct Pay Grade, staff who are assigned that Pay Grade for an Activity and work on that date will be paid a Public Holiday Rate.

To set up public holidays:

You must first create a rule-based Pay Block, then go into Pay Grades and add the Pay Rate amount, code and date effective from. ​Create the 'public holiday' Pay Block via Rule-Based Pay Blocks.

  1. Under the Rule-based Pay Block section, click Create Pay Block

  2. Name the Pay Block, 'Public Holiday' and add Paycode if applicable.

  3. Select all Departments that apply. Times are not applicable, so press the red bin icon to remove the 'Day' and 'Time'. It should now look like the following below.

  4. Then, Save.


Next, create your Public Holidays.

  1. Click Create

  2. Fill out the details, including the date. For the Pay Block, select the 'Public Holiday' block as created above. Save.

  3. Now, the Pay Block will appear in the Rule-based Pay Block section.

Lastly, we must edit the Pay Grades to add the Pay Rate Amount, Code, for the Public Holidays. The steps are below:

  1. Click on the Pay Grade you want the public holiday Pay Rate to apply for

  2. Click Edit

  3. Enter the public holiday Pay Rate amount, the Pay Rate code, and the date it is effective from

  4. Save

Follow the steps in this article if you want to bulk update Pay Grades.

To edit or delete a public holiday:

  1. Click the Edit or Delete icon

  2. If editing, make changes, then click Save
