Only Admin and Manager users can manage positions, including assigning, editing and removing.
Teams and Groups are interchangeable terms in Clipboard.
Need to create sub-sections within a team? You can add positions to students in a Team! Positions allow you to arrange your students in a Team according to your requirements. This feature is highly customisable and can be used for sports, music, and co-curricular activities. Here are some examples of activities and how you might want to use positions:
Choir - track which part each student belongs to
Debating - assign the order of speakers in debates
Netball - easily view who your reserves are
Rugby - check that you have two props, locks, and centres
Orchestra - track which instruments your students play, in orchestral order
You can also use positions to track which students in your Team have yet to be given a position and which have been benched due to absence or illness.
Once you've assigned these positions, you'll be able to mark the roll by the order of these positions!
To manage positions for a Team (alternatively named, Group):
Go to Teams
Use the dropdown menus for Activity and Hidden status to search for your Team
Click on the three dots icon for that Team, and select Positions. From here, you can change the order, fill it with a position template, add or remove all positions.
Change order of positions - this option allows you to drag and drop the positions into the order you want. Just remember to Save Position Order. Note: changing the order will only affect the Team you reordered, however, a change of order will apply to all users viewing that Team.
Fill with a position template - if your Activity has a position template saved in their settings, you can choose to use that template to create positions for your Team. You will be prompted to confirm you want to fill the Team selected with the positions in the template. After confirming, the positions will appear in your Team empty (see image below), allowing you to drag and drop your students into the correct position. You can find more information on how to create, edit and delete Position Templates here.
Add a position - this option will open a pop-up to Create Positions. Simply enter a name and the maximum number of students that you want to hold this position (the default is unlimited). You can also create Positions when uploading a Team list when Creating Teams.
Top Tip: You can leave the maximum number of students as unlimited, or you can set a specific number!
Remove all positions - clicking this option will prompt a pop-up to confirm your decision to remove all positions from that Team. Note: This action won't remove students from the Team, only all positions.
To edit or delete a position, simply click on the position name and choose to:
Edit the position in that Team by changing the name or by adjusting the maximum number of students
Delete the position from that Team. Note: This doesn't remove the student from the Team, they will be moved to No Position. This also doesn't remove the position from other Teams.
To assign a position to a student, you can either:
Drag and drop the student into the position. Note: If the position is already filled with the maximum number of students, whichever student you drop your new student on will be removed from that position, not the Team, and moved to No Position.
OR
Click on the vacant position and use the pop-up search bar to find a student to add to that position (see image below). Note: this method allows you to search the Student List and add a student from outside the Team.
Column View is also a visual way of viewing students' positions over several Teams along with seeing the unique icons for medical conditions, boarder, return to play, and pre-explained absence icons.
To view Teams in this view, click on View > Column View next to Manage Teams in the top right.
