What is a round name?
A round name is the name for a group of Fixtures. It is optional, but is a good way of grouping Fixtures together. Most associations or competitions name and number their rounds. For example, “Round 1” would correspond to the first round of Fixtures, “Round 2” to the second, and so on.
How are rounds grouped?
Rounds are grouped by Activity and date. You can create Fixtures for multiple Activities and dates at the same time, however on the Schedule they will appear and be grouped together by the date and the Activity.
Why is it important to consistently name Rounds and use fewer names for Rounds?
It is beneficial for the school to have consistent round names so that your Clipboard environment is cleaner, and reporting is better. For example, it is better for all Activities in the same association or competition to have their first round named the same, for example, "Round 1" rather than having "Round 1 Hockey", "Netball Round 1", "R1 - Touch", etc. All those three rounds are really the same Round 1, but because the round names are different, they will appear as different rounds in the schedule, which is misleading.
Do I have to use round names?
No, a round name is optional. If there’s no round name, Clipboard will simply use the date of the Fixtures to group them together and will name the round according to the Activity, eg. “Basketball Fixtures”.
Why am I receiving an ‘incorrect round name’ warning?
This error warning is in response to potential issues being found with the round names you are creating. Clipboard will notify you if:
There is an Activity in the round name
There is a Team in the round name
The round name is the same or similar to an already created round on the same day.
This is all to help you have a cleaner, more consistent Clipboard setup at your school. After receiving this warning you can choose to return to the spreadsheet to correct the naming of the rounds or you can choose to continue and keep the round names.
