Overview
Clipboard makes categorising Resources easy by having two default Categories already set up in your Clipboard account.
These are Instruments (specifically for a Music Department) and Equipment (shared across all Departments). When setting up for the first time, you can choose to rename, edit, or remove these.
đĄ Itâs important to note that you always need to have at least one Category, as Resources need to be assigned a Category. This means you are unable to delete a Category if it is the only Category remaining.
Creating New Categories
You can create new Categories specifically to suit your Department. Alternatively, you can create Categories that sit across multiple Departments. This is handy for any shared school equipment. E.g. Microphones.
To Create a new Category:
From the Resources page, click More and Manage Categories.
In the Manage Categories page, click Create Category.
Select the Department(s) you want to assign the Category to and enter the Category Name (e.g. AV Equipment).
You now have the option to add any Subcategories (e.g. Microphones, Speakers, Amplifiers).
Click Save.
Deleting Categories and Subcategories
You can Delete Categories and Subcategories, provided they are empty and have no Resources within. This is to prevent the accidental deletion of Resources.
If you cannot delete a Category (or Subcategory), you will need to move the Resources to another Category via the Resources List.
Moving Resources to another Category
Use the filter to find all the Resources that are assigned to the Category you wish to delete.
Select the Resources via the checkboxes of the right.
Click More, and Move to Category.
In the pop-up, select the desired Category and/or Subcategory to which you wish to move the Resources.
It is important to note that moving a Resource to a new Category may change the Additional Fields attached to this Resource, and data may be lost.
