Initial Setup for Associations
Clipboard will action the initial Compete setup for the association. Associations will receive a Required Setup Sheet, where they will need to include information, including:
Schools within their association
Activities (all sports they wish to enter in Compete)
Grades and Pools
Ladder rules and scoring systems
Locations
Association and school admin Users
Once the spreadsheet is completed, Clipboard will set everything up.
Changes or Additions After Initial Setup
Grades
Grades are the levels or divisions that group Teams together for competition. Grades are used to separate Teams into year levels and ability divisions within a particular Activity or even to separate schools into geographic regions.
Creating Grades
To create a new Grade in Clipboard Compete:
Go to the Setup tab in the top navigation bar
The Grades tab will be open
Click Create Grades
Using the spreadsheet, add your Grades
Name your Grades
Assign your Activities to your Grades
Once finished, click Save
These Grades can then be seen by Schools who wish to nominate Teams into that Grade for that particular Activity
Editing Grades
To Edit Grades in your Clipboard Compete Association from the same Grades tab:
Select the Grades you wish to edit using the checkboxes
Click Edit
Using the spreadsheet, edit your Grades
Rename your Grades as necessary
Add or remove your Activities to/from your Grades
Once finished, click Save
Viewing Grades
Once you have a list of Grades, you must manage them effectively. The order in which they show on this page is the order in which they appear elsewhere on the app. This is important if, for example, your schools want to prioritise the 1st Grades and your Association has unique naming conventions, as 'Firsts' won't necessarily appear at the top if the list is alphabetical.
How do I reorder my Grades?
To reorder the Grades, grab the drag handles on the left-hand side of a created Grade, and move them up or down accordingly.
What if I no longer want to use a Grade?
Grades cannot be deleted; they are only archived. If you no longer wish to see a Grade, you can archive it.
Locate the Grade you would like to archive
Click the blue Archive icon
These Grades will be available for unarchiving via the dropdown.

Locations
What is a Location?
Locations are the venues where Fixtures are played. Locations can have
A Name
An (optional) Owner School
A Google Maps Address
Locations can also be one of two types: a Parent Location or a Sub-location
Parent Locations
Generally speaking, this would represent the entire venue and its street address
Sub-locations are the courts, fields or “subdivisions” of that larger venue where each Activity might be played
As an example, Netball Central at Homebush would be an example of a Parent Location, but since the venue has multiple Netball courts, you would also have Court 1, Court 2, Court 3, etc., as Sub-Locations to represent each of the areas of the venue.
Creating a Location
To create a Parent Location in Clipboard Compete:
Go to the Setup tab in the top navigation bar
Click the Locations tab
Select Create Locations
Using the spreadsheet, add your Parent Locations
Name your Parent Locations
Add an Owner School if applicable
Add the Address using the exact Google Maps address
We recommend that you make this the street address of the facility. If Sub-Locations have different entry points or street addresses, you can specify these when you create them
Once finished, click Save
Creating a Sublocation
To create a Sublocation in Clipboard Compete, first, ensure you’ve created the corresponding Parent Location. Then,
From the Locations tab, click the Parent Location for which you wish to create a Sub-Location for
Click the Add Sub-Location button under the Sublocations heading
Name your Sub-Locations
Add the Google Maps Address to each Sub-Location
Be sure to use the exact Street Address if the access point for visitors to the venue is different from the Parent Location
Once finished, click Save
Editing a Location
To edit a Parent Location, head to Setup > Locations. Then,
Click the Location Name
Click the Edit button to make changes to the:
Name of Locations
Owner School, if applicable
Google Maps Address
You can also adjust the location of the Google Map pin independently. This may make it easier for students, parents and staff to reach the venue, as you can provide a more precise location if it is quite large.
Once finished, click Save
Editing a Sublocation
Editing Sublocations is much the same as editing Parent Locations.
To edit a Sublocation:
Head to Setup > Locations
Click the dropdown arrow to the left of the Location Name
Then, click the Sublocation Name
Click the Edit button to edit the:
Name your Sublocations
Owner School
Google Maps Address
Similarly, you can independently adjust where the Google Map pin is dropped
Once finished, click Save

Compete Users
Compete Users are those with access to the Compete Fixtures App. Note that these are different from the Admins and Managers at the Schools who can see the Fixtures in the Fixtures Inbox.
Adding Users
To add new Compete Users:
Head to Setup > Users
Click 'Add User'
Type in the User’s Email Address
The User will then receive an email invite, where, after clicking Invite, they will be able to create a password with which to log into the Clipboard Compete webapp
Deleting Users
To delete Compete Users
Head to Setup, and then Users
Click on the Trash icon next to the User
Delete the User
Resetting Compete Password
Currently, there is no way to reset your Compete password. If a user forgets their password, either another admin user or the Clipboard support team will need to delete this user and create the account again. An email will be sent to this user and they can create a new password.
Ladders
Ladders are scoring configurations that determine who sits where in the rankings in the Ladders tab.
They use existing Score Templates configured internally by Clipboard, which match the same formats that the Schools/Associations use to record scores.
Configuring Ladders
Right now, Clipboard will set up the Ladder Configurations that your Association needs when you are onboarded, so we strongly discourage creating, editing or deleting Ladders. You can still adjust these if you like, but currently, this requires advanced knowledge of JSON.
If you need ladders edited, please contact the Clipboard support team.
Managing Columns
To view a Ladder Config:
Head to Setup
Click 'Ladders'
Click the Edit pencil icon
From here, you can:
Reorder these Columns using the drag handles on the side
This will change the order in which the columns display, from left to right, on the main Ladders tab
Update the Column tooltip
This will change the tooltip explanation of the column on the Ladders tab
Hide or Delete columns
Managing Ranking Order
From the same screen, you can also reorder the Ranking Order of these columns using the drag handles on the side. This allows you to affect the order in which the Teams are ranked in the Ladder.

Pools in Clipboard Compete
Pools are subdivisions within Competition Grades that group Teams for structured tournament play. They're commonly used to organise Teams into smaller groups for round-robin play before finals, or to separate teams by geographic regions or skill levels within the same grade.
Use case example: a Competition might have "Pool A" and "Pool B" within the Open Grade, where Teams play others in their Pool before the top teams advance to the finals.
The Pools feature allows associations to create cross-pool finals Fixtures, enabling any Team within that Grade to have a Knock-out Fixture against another.
