Compete: Managing Intraschool Fixtures

Learn how to work with and understand Intraschool Fixtures in Compete

Intraschool fixtures (games between teams from the same school) differ slightly from regular (interschool) fixtures, and it's important to know the differences.

What are intraschool fixtures?

Intraschool fixtures occur when two teams from the same school compete against each other. For example, your school's First XI Cricket team might play against your Second XI.

How intraschool fixtures work

When an intraschool fixture is created in Compete by your association, Clipboard automatically:

  1. Creates appropriate events for both teams involved

  2. Adds both Teams to their respective events

  3. Maintains sync between these two events

  4. Ensures both teams receive notifications, can view the event in their schedules and enter a result

Managing intraschool fixtures

For Associations

Important for associations: There is no longer any need to advise schools to create duplicate fixtures for intraschool games. The system now automatically handles this, ensuring both teams can mark rolls and receive notifications. This eliminates a common support issue and improves the experience for your member schools.

For Admin and Manager users

When viewing the Fixtures page, you'll notice that intraschool fixtures appear as two separate entries - one for each team. This allows you to:

  1. View and manage Staff assignments and Notes for both teams independently

  2. Give both Teams' Staff the ability to record results

IMPORTANT TO NOTE

As a school,

  • When editing these fixtures in the Inbox spreadsheet, they will always be selected together, and changes to linked fields (like date, time, location) will apply to both versions of the fixture. You'll still be able to edit things like assigned staff independently.

  • Once you've accepted the fixture and it goes into your Fixtures page, you can then edit the Fixtures independently; the necessary linked fields - like Date, Time, Teams, etc - will still need to be kept in sync.

For Staff users

If you're assigned to coach one of the teams in an intraschool fixture:

  1. You'll see the fixture in your schedule with your team clearly indicated

  2. You can mark attendance for your team as you would for any other fixture

  3. You can record results as normal

Editing intraschool fixtures

When editing intraschool fixtures, keep in mind:

  1. Changes to date, time, location and other linked fields will automatically apply to both teams

  2. Team-specific changes (like Staff assignments) can be made independently

  3. Both fixtures remain linked in the system to maintain consistency

FAQ

Do I need to do anything to enable this feature?
No, this enhancement has been automatically applied to all Clipboard accounts that use Compete.

What happens to my existing intraschool fixtures?
The improvement applies to new fixtures. If you previously created workaround duplicate fixtures, those will continue to work as before.

Can I still see which students attended from both teams?
Yes! You'll have full visibility of attendance for both teams when they belong to your school.

Do I need to create duplicate fixtures for internal games anymore?
No! The system now automatically creates events for both teams, eliminating the need for this manual workaround.

Will I still receive notifications about both teams?
Yes, staff assigned to either team will receive appropriate notifications about the fixture.

Why can't the other Admin-level Coach see the Fixture in the Inbox after I make a change to my side?
Right now, changes are "automatically accepted" - that is, they won't be visible in the Inbox. This prevents unnecessary duplication of approvals for the same fixture.
